British Activists Hold Vigil To Honor Cuban Five

Havana, Oct 9 (acn) Members of the British "Campaign in Solidarity with
Cuba" organization held a vigil Tuesday in front of the US embassy in
London to commemorate the ninth anniversary of the imprisonment of five
Cuban antiterrorist fighters unjustly held in US jails.

During the vigil, the activists demanded the release of Antonio
Guerrero, Gerardo Hernandez. Ramon Labanino, Fernando Gonzalez and Rene
Gonzalez, internationally known as the Cuban Five, who were detained in
1998 for trying to prevent the terrorist actions organized by right-wing
anti-Cuba organizations based in Florida. They were charged with
terrorism and punished with extremely harsh sentences despite the
antiterrorist nature of their mission.

Director of the Campaign in Solidarity with Cuba, Rob Miller, spoke at
the vigil, as well as the General Secretary of the National Union of
Journalists (NUJ) and member of the British Parliament, Jeremy Corbyn.

Mr. Miller said Washington clearly shows its double-standard policy on
antiterrorism by keeping the Five behind bars for fighting against
terrorism.

For his part, Jeremy Corbyn pointed out the support received by the Five
around the world despite the wall of silence of the mainstream media on
their case. He called on the British people to join the international
campaign undertaken for the freedom of the five political prisoners who
have already received the support of the Amnesty International and the
United Nations.

Juan Cole on the Latest Brit Troop "Drawdown" Plans

British Prime Minister Gordon Brown pledged on Monday to pull 3,000
British troops out of Basra by March of 2008, leaving only 2500, with
those to be withdrawn by the end of that year. Brown's office says that
the drawdown was approved by US Gen. David Petraeus.

Military analysts point out that the effective force in Basra will
really only be 1250, since that is all the troops that could be spared
for an operation in Basra or another nearby trouble spot, while the
other 1250 would need to remain to secure the base. In turn, one could
imagine a perilous situation emerging in Basra (population 1.5
million), dealing with which would require more than 1250 troops.

Some observers worry that the British contingent could get so small
that it might be overwhelmed by militant Shiite militiamen, and be
forced to evacuate by helicopter, as in the last days of the US in
Saigon.

It is also unclear that the British could any longer, as of next March,
effectively provide a security umbrella for US fuel and supply convoys
going from Basra, Umm Qasr and Kuwait up north through Shiite territory
to Baghdad and other sites of US military activity. The Iraqi 10th Army
Division seems unlikely to be able to play that role so soon. My guess
is that the US will have to station troops in Basra.

Others point out that the troops drawn down from Basra will likely be
sent to Afghanistan, where British casualties are mounting in the face
of attacks by Pushtun guerrillas. (The increasingly dangerous situation
in Afghanistan gets little press in the United States.) ...

The Homophobic Hate campaign by English Churches Housing Group (ECHG),
Hammersmith & Fulham Council and The Metropolitan Police is still
continuing - at the moment my tormentors think it is acceptable to run
a Hate campaign and they do not think they have done anything wrong.

The authorities know who I am, but they think it is acceptable for a
group of people to run a homophobic hate campaign.

The merger has taken place between ECHG and The Riverside Group - but
I am still dealing with a group of people who enjoy making my life a
living nightmare.

My Tormentors take an enormous pleasure in making my life a living
hell - my Tormentors see me as a soft target. I am not scared of them
nor am I afraid of them - I will get a full criminal investigation
into this hate campaign - on my terms and I will not shut-up until I
get to the bottom of everything these criminals have done - I mean
everything and in the process I will clear my name which my Tormentors
have elegantly blackened.

When the whole truth comes out of what has happened - you will find
that I am a Law-abiding citizen and a veteran of the Falklands
Campaign.

My Tormentors have no intention in sorting out this mess, as at the
moment they are enjoying running their hate campaign too much - this
is all about 100% hate, nothing else.

As part of the Hate campaign my tormentors have bugged my computer - I
do know what I am talking about - you can check my computer

My computer is not connected to the Internet and I don not have a
phone - but when I use the System Monitor Tool, I find Terminal
Services is running and it is showing network traffic - what my
tormentors have done, it to use a wireless connection to bug my
computer.

This all started when I found out this development should be to be a
Hostel for people with special need, I made a official complaint to
the Independent Housing Ombudsman and the Local Government Ombudsman -
which lead to a legal agreement that ECHG should move me and carry
several repairs on my flat - which ECHG had no intention of honouring
this agreement. ECHG and the Council decided to lie to both the
Independent Housing Ombudsman and the Local Government Ombudsman for
this to succeed they needed to have to the police to confirm their
lies. Instead of sorting out this mess, when I found out about what
they have been doing - my tormentors decided to run a hate campaign
against me.

This is what happens to the underclass in this country - because these

have got lying to a fine art.
