Iraq: PM annouces troop cuts
Fresh back from sunkissed Blackpool and there's bad blood between the
Tories and Labour, with Gordon Brown landing in Baghdad and Basra and
somewhat upstaging events besides the Lancashire seaside.
Brown's headline-grabbing move on his Iraq trip has drawn a
particularly personal attack from the Tories' Liam Fox at the podium in
Blackpool.
What the Prime Minister has actually announced does bear close
scrutiny -- he says he wants 1,000 of the current British troops
home "hopefully by Christmas." However, 500 of that reduction had
already been announced by the MoD some months ago.
The drawdown will take to 4,500 the number of British troops at their
Basra Airport base. There's no clear timing as to when there'll be a
further significant reduction, or indeed, total withdrawal.
In sum, there's no real difference from what might have been expected
from Tony Blair -- which will please some and disappoint others.
Some possible questions arise: might Gordon Brown be more disposed to
Britain's deployment in Iraq than some previously thought? Or might his
wish to strike a speedier difference have been tempered by his short
time in the driving seat so far? Or maybe he hasn't got the clout -- or
the inclination - to disappoint the Americans and simply bring
everyone home?
What every analyst seems to conclude is that getting troops down to
4,500 is basically leaving a group of people whose main job will be to
train Iraqis and to protect each other.
Jonathan Rugman is on the case and we shall be talking live to Colonel
Jorge Mendonca who operated in Basra and who of course was the subject
of an unnsuccessful court martial over the death of Baha Musa.

A thousand troops home by Christmas'
By Sue Turton
Gordon Brown has promised that a thousand troops will be home from Iraq
by Christmas - as he faces Tory accusations of letting down Britain's
armed forces.
Is it a prime-ministerial trip to evaluate troop withdrawal in Iraq or
a blatant attempt at stealing the Tories thunder?
Gordon Brown flew into Baghdad this morning to announce that more
British troops would be brought home by the end of the year. If he's
going to call a snap election he's tackling his predecessors' unpopular
war head on.
His visit to the heavily fortified green zone had included a meeting
with Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, where Mr Brown had urged for
a renewed effort by Iraq's political parties to work together on
rebuilding their country.
A sentiment the Tories would back wholeheartedly but the timing of his
trip to Baghdad went down like a lead balloon in Blackpool. On the
conference floor, Tory heavyweights tried to make political capital:
"And, you Prime Minister, in your self-indulgent plagiarised, 67 minute
opus last week. How much did you dedicate to Iraq, Afghanistan and our
Armed Forces? 126 words. 126 words. One word for every two service men
and women killed in Iraq and Afghanistan. I hope you remember that when
you are having your photo opportunities in Iraq today." - Liam Fox,
Shadow Defence Secretary.
But on the breakfast sofa this morning their leader shied away from
making Iraq a potential election issue.
Is news of British forces coming home in time for Christmas aimed more
at winning back disaffected Labour voters and Labour MPs opposed to the
war? If so the manner in which it was announced might well backfire.
Mr Brown's government had promised a departure from the Blair years by
telling parliament first about changes in policy before announcing them
to the media.

The Metropolitan Police & ECHG, English Churches Housing Group 247 The Riverside Group
The Homophobic Hate campaign by English Churches Housing Group (ECHG),
Hammersmith & Fulham Council and The Metropolitan Police is still
continuing - at the moment my tormentors think it is acceptable to run
a Hate campaign and they do not think they have done anything wrong.
The authorities know who I am, but they think it is acceptable for a
group of people to run a homophobic hate campaign.
The merger has taken place between ECHG and The Riverside Group - but
I am still dealing with a group of people who enjoy making my life a
living nightmare.
My Tormentors take an enormous pleasure in making my life a living
hell - my Tormentors see me as a soft target. I am not scared of them
nor am I afraid of them - I will get a full criminal investigation
into this hate campaign - on my terms and I will not shut-up until I
get to the bottom of everything these criminals have done - I mean
everything and in the process I will clear my name which my Tormentors
have elegantly blackened.
When the whole truth comes out of what has happened - you will find
that I am a Law-abiding citizen and a veteran of the Falklands
Campaign.
My Tormentors have no intention in sorting out this mess, as at the
moment they are enjoying running their hate campaign too much - this
is all about 100% hate, nothing else.
As part of the Hate campaign my tormentors have bugged my computer - I
do know what I am talking about - you can check my computer
qualifications with Microsoft.

My computer is not connected to the Internet and I don not have a
phone - but when I use the System Monitor Tool, I find Terminal
Services is running and it is showing network traffic - what my
tormentors have done, it to use a wireless connection to bug my
computer.

This all started when I found out this development should be to be a
Hostel for people with special need, I made a official complaint to
the Independent Housing Ombudsman and the Local Government Ombudsman -
which lead to a legal agreement that ECHG should move me and carry
several repairs on my flat - which ECHG had no intention of honouring
this agreement. ECHG and the Council decided to lie to both the
Independent Housing Ombudsman and the Local Government Ombudsman for
this to succeed they needed to have to the police to confirm their
lies. Instead of sorting out this mess, when I found out about what
they have been doing - my tormentors decided to run a hate campaign
against me.

This is what happens to the underclass in this country - because these
people know I do not have a voice - they know how the system works and
have got lying to a fine art.
