Cuba-Venezuela Attending Book Fair in Barcelona

Havana, Oct 2 (acn) By virtue of the bilateral agreements signed
between Cuba and Venezuela to promote the work of their writers, both
nations are attending the 25th International Book Fair inaugurated on
Tuesday in Barcelona, Spain.

The fair, one of the most important around the world, aims to promote
new titles and to boost exchanges amongst scholars. Some of the Cuban
writers participating in the major cultural event are Marilyn Bobes,
Jorge Fornet, Francisco Lopez Sacha, Jorge Angel Hernandez and Rogelio
Riveron.

In statements to the acn news agency, the director of Letras Cubanas
publishing house, Daniel Garcia, said the Cuba-Venezuela pavilion will
give special promotion to the first ten titles of the cultural fund of
the Bolivarian Alternative for the Americas (ALBA).

Garcia stressed the literary and thematic diversity of the collection
which includes "One hundred hours with Fidel" by journalist Ignacio
Ramonet.

Cuba is scheduled to deliver a lecture on its contemporary literature
and the most frequent topics dealt with by different generations. The
island will also, on October 4, officially present the 17th
International Fair Book to take place in Havana early next year.

The Cuban delegates' agenda also includes cultural exchanges with
Spanish writers and a program of activities at the Cuba-Badalona
Friendship House, based in the third most important city of the Catalan
community.
