Parliament Commissions Begin Sessions on Monday

Havana, June 25 (acn) The permanent commissions of the Cuban Parliament 
will analyze topics of economic and social interest on Monday and 
Tuesday in Havana prior to the beginning of the ninth ordinary period 
of sessions of the sixth legislature next Friday.

The working groups will check on diverse topics such as production, 
services, work with youths and children, economy and national defense.

Other topics related to local government bodies and the work in sectors 
like education, culture, sports, health care and science, technology 
and the environment, will also be discussed.

Then, on Wednesday and Thursday, a plenary session of Parliament will 
listen to reports from the ministries of Transportation and the Sugar 
Industry.

Reports will also be given on the payments to agricultural workers for 
their production and also about the Energy Program that is currently 
underway on the island.

Currently, there are 10 parliamentary commissions: Legal and 
Constitutional Affairs; Attention to Productive Activities; Local 
Government Bodies; Education, Culture, Science, Technology and the 
Environment; Economic Affairs; Health and Sports; National Defense; 
Attention to Services; Youth, Infancy and Women's Equal Rights; and 
Foreign Affairs.
