The rebirth has finished
The rebirth of u.c.n.80s came and went. A short flurry of posts and then
nothing. Promises of a web site from the 'mulletted' one.
I think the problem is, as the 80s have finished there is limited news as
focus is on the future.
However, to buck the trend I have been watching M.A.S.K and Defenders of the
Earth and will post reviews soon.

It's always been a low traffic group after the initial novelty wore off.
The only reason it was created in the first place to move some of the 80s
nostalgia talk off comp.sys.sinclair, but 80s nostalgia talk was always part
of the culture of that group so... it just stayed there anyway.

It had been hoped that other UK people would join in, but it doesn't
seem to be happening. Perhaps more people should be made aware of the
newsgroup?

Lister, most people aren't even aware of usenet as a WHOLE.
For the majority the internet IS the world wide web.

Well, yes. People need to be tempted away from web browsers for long
enough to see that there's another world out there. Sadly, I doubt
that'll ever happen.

Need to design a page that mimics some of the functionality of a
newsreader (or maybe someone just needs to give Google Groups a swift
kick up the arse)

That will never happen.

Personally speaking, and at almost 4AM some time in 2006, I clearly have no
future. In fact, if I'm alive after I'm 30, that would be a (using the term
loosely) nice surprise.

De-fenders-of-the-earth! (De-fenders!)

I only remember the theme tune.

Yo're supposed to be? You mean you're not sure? Your house is on the market
FFS.

Just call it quits at this point, and get your own flat. You know you want
to.

<g> that's not what I was meaning. It's just a turn of phrase.
