'specially when you consider that in order to be authentic he will need...
A music centre (record player/tape deck/radio, possibly add CD to that)
A 4:3 cathode ray analogue tv which will cease to function in less than 2
years.
NO INTERNET. The most he'll be allowed is a bbs service over a 1200 baud
modem. 
If he wants optical disk based videos to watch, he'll need a video disk
player.
The most powerful computer permitted will be an amiga or atari ST.
(though I suppose we could allow a 286 based PC)
