UK police officers caught lying on video tape. Cameraman arrested next day..
Film-maker Darren Pollard was clearing up flood rubbish from his front
garden when he noticed the police harassing a youth opposite his
house. Darren retrieved his camera and this is what he filmed..

Mr Pollard is clearly a right gobshite worky-ticket, and should be given
some sort of commendation for standing up for himself. Excellent piece of
work.

Well as it's an old story and the video's been up on YouTube for over four
months now, I would suspect for a little longer at least.

Mr Pollard ought to have explainbed that what he was doing was not a
police matter, but that it might be a civil matter and that they
should go and see a solicitor.

Actually, that officer appears to be yet another individual that is
doing his bit in giving a new meaning to the expression "P C
Bullshit".

I'd say that both of them do that. (Both the "Officers" I mean).

This has already been discussed, but you claim he was arrested next day, do
you have a source for that?

Bu the op in the subject header claims the cameraman was arrested the next

Do you have a link to him being arrested the next day?

I couldn't make out if the woman was a police officer or a "community"
thingy. Either way, sauntering around with her hands in her pockets in a
most un-police like fashion only goes to reinforce people's perception of
the police as a deteriorating institution.

It is particularly ironic that these two officers were quite clearly irked
at being filmed, even though the executive films everyone as a matter of
everyday routine. That they clearly didn't know the law, but were trying to
persuade someone they *thought* knew even less, that they *did* know it, is
where they come unstuck.

It is just such a shame the cameraman was such a "I know my rights" whining
type. Still, good on him and well done for putting the video up.

What the authorities didn't envisage, when they embarked on the scheme of
watching the citizen 24/7, is that the exponential rise in the capability of
manufacturers now means that the citizen can now afford to watch *them*.
They don't appear so keen though.

It reminds me of this posting I put on uk.legal lasy year:

As the group of 7 of us walked in the bright sunshine today, along
the
seafront at Worthing, along with hundreds of other sunseekers, we: a
lady in her 80's, a lady in her 60's, 3 men in their 50's and a young
man of 20, saw a strange sight as we stood to the right side of the
pier.

On the beach, just where the water reaches the shore, (the tide was
partially out), were four policeman holding a man face down in the
green weed and saturated wet sand. At first we though they had found
a washed up body, but then we realised the man was alive and being
restrained in the mess of the beach.

Instictively, one of the group raised his video camera, which had
been
in his hand, and stood their ready to film. Immediately one of the
four police officers about 75 yeards away, noticed the video camera,
and changed his position to shield the event from the recording.
Many
other people had cameras but we have no way of knowing how many on
this prime spot on the seafront were taking images or film with their
cameras or mobile phones.

One of the officers seemd to raise his arm to a radio, and the next
thing we knew, two police officers approached us near the pavement,
and one, a female, demanded we stop filming straight away or "we may
confiscate your camera" as evidence.

The member of the group holding the camera, said "I have not seen an
offence take place, I am only watching you hold a man to the ground".
The officer was insistent that filming should stop, or the video
camera 'MAY' be confiscated. At this time we were unclear whether or
not film had been taken, but the camera came down anyway. We were
effectively stopped from filming this very public scene in a public
place where the world and his wife had come out for a Sunday stroll.

We went to move away, having responded to demands from the female
officer, but now the male officer wanted to know the name and address
of the man with the camera. The camera holder responded "on what
grounds do you want my name and adddress?". The officer said "we
just
need to have it". Like a flash, our 'cameraman' pulled an Olympus
dictaphone from his pocket, switched it on and said "can we just be
clear about that officer?", "why do you want my name and address?
The
officer rapidly developed a broad grin and politely said, "oh no,
only
if you want to give it to us sir".

We walked away.

All the modern police have lost smartness, no ties, hands in pockets or stab
vests, scruffy shoes, uniforms that dont fit, unshaven appearance, does
nobody cheak that they look the part before going out, or am I expecting
too much, and before I forget all the women seem to have the same silly
ponytails as well

What has any of that got to do with Party Politics? The police are as
anti-Labour as the rest of the populace, especially as they haven't evn had
their September pay rise yet! It's poor policiing that's the issue, not
Party Politics.

I think in some ways you are quite wrong, functionaries of the State take
their tone from their masters, they take their paperwork from their masters,
and their targets. The culture of policing has changed, better or worse, is
not the issue, but it has changed, the police forces are far more uniform
and subserviant to the home office then ever before. The ACPO might as well
be a Labour party quorum, while it is true the rank and file officers are
usually right wing conservatives, in their approach, but promotion comes
through mouthing what the Regime wants.

Exactly my understanding, after talking to police officers!

Actually I'm extremely RIGHT! But hey let's not worry about that.... The
police couldn't be more distrustful of the Government just now, and that's
been for a long time. The resistence to the pointless KPI's and
waste-of-time targets that the management have to impose on the rank and
file at the same time as the government going back on it's salary agreement
means that LAbour has been a dirty word for a long time. Police Forces may
be more subservient but the rank and file couldn't be less so.

The poor policing comes from years of appalling practices and the continual
slide in the entrance requirements that mean it's an amazingly well paid job
for Joe Thicko who has no qualifications and couldn't survive in a
commercial environment. Lazy doesn't even come close to describing most
police officers, add dishonest and unable to comprehend the word 'justice'
let alone deliver it and you're getting closer.

You're pananoid. I am not a Labour supporter and haven't been to Devon for
years! Is that your way of saying that you agree it isn't really a Party
Political issue?
