We were in the house last night, when we heard two periods of ringing,
just like someone was running their finger round a wine glass. About
the frequency of the old close-down tone the on the radio.
Except we live in the middle of no-where. The only thing is that we
are right under the flight path for the training base for military
jets. (more on that later).

The nearest neighbours were out so hadn't heard it. We hadn't been
drinking or smoking anything, it definitely wasn't the plumbing or
indeed anything we can think of it possibly be. The PC and amp was
off, but the strangest thing was that we could not identify the
direction of the sound - I tried cupping my ears to get some
direction. And no, it's not tinnitus, because we both heard exactly
the same.

Each noise lasted 10-15 seconds. I'm a bit of a skeptic, hence I
haven't posted this to a UFO group or anything, and can usually find
an easy explanation for the unexplained, but this sound was so strange
I thought I'd just  see if anyone had an idea.

And about those jets - I'd be starting to think it was maybe some some
radar system or something, maybe setting up an oscillation in
something in the house, but it was saturday evening, and the jets
don't practise on saturday or in the evening. Any ideas?
