1983 - The Brink of Apocalypse
I've just got round to watching this programme, which I taped a week
or so ago. If you didn't see it, its was about the events of 1983,
such as the shooting down of the Korean airliner by the Soviets that
nearly led to a nuclear war at the time of the Able Archer Exercise.
It was a bit hammed up in places, the Soviet monitoring accumulator,
which would have triggered a nuclear strike if full, was only half-
completed for instance.
There were some good shots in nuclear bunkers though. Most of it
seemed to be shot in what looked like Kelvedon Hatch and there were
some scenes in some sort of Soviet bunker, that I couldn't identify.
