Looks like it's going backwards - weird design, but strangely compelling
- a bit like the 2CV, or the Ami 6.

Presumably the people in the back are kneeling behind those in the
front? It'd be like my first car, a Mini, (old) T-reg, where going at
30mph was scary, and 55mph would've been for a dare. That windscreen
looks kind-of insubstantial.

Just hope the front brakes are not too keen...

Reminds me of my brothers first car, a bubblecar. He
managed to roll it at a roundabout. IIRC the steering
wheel was fixed to the front (and only) door. Happy
daze?

They could be traps for the unwary- some of them had no reverse, and I
remember seeing more than one person bowl up to a pub, say, and park in
a traditional manner next to a wall - and then realise they could
neither reverse nor get out.

I had two too. You could roll back the fabric sunroof and get out
through that, and there was a chrome rear bumper that was more like a
handle, and high enough to molish it easy to pick it up and turn it
round. The handbrake only jbexed on the rear wheel.

That's where you swing the little cover aside and using the detatched
steering column punt yourself clear.

ISTR that John Craven claims that story, from when he was a student.

So how does the driver manage when there is no rear-seat passenger to

But you needed to be out of the car to do that- bit of a bootstrapping
problem. It's a mistake that I suspect most drivers made only once.

I've seen it done, a couple of times - I suspect with new owners.

A similar state of affairs may be encountered by the cyclist foolish enough
to clip into Shimano SPD pedals with his toes pointing towards the rear of
the bicycle in that, once attached, becoming detached requires the services
of an assistant to poke the springy bits of the pedal with a screwdriver.
An acquaintance - we shall call him "Jamie", because that is his name -
once did this while demonstrating that he could ride a bicycle while sitting
on the handlebars facing backwards.

A few months later he did it again, but instead of gathering around the
stricken fellow, wielding tools, we propped him up against the wall of the
pub and went back in for another pint.

why the gimmicks? hubless wheels, and the stupid little front legs,
have nothing to do with the function. Bike wheels, that is what it
needs.

They're so you can tell it's a concept vehicle untainted by
considerations of cost and practicality.
