Jack grabbed the old Mamod out of the spare room and said "What's this,
daddy?"
Well, it hadn't run for about 20 years, but it still works!

I have a circa 60 year old one still working perfectly and for some reason
parents seemed to be less paranoid about little Johnny setting fire to the
living room carpet with his meths or chemistry set!

I hope you called in the elfen safety bods to inspect it and do pressure
tests before issuing fireproof clothing and goggles and a fire clearance
certiffycate before retiring to a concrete bunker to initiate the thing?

I remember taking mine in to primary school one day (I think it was
relevant to something we were doing at the time). I couldn't find the
burner, so grabbed a long thin metal tray from the kitchen and used that
instead. The teacher was rather concerned when I poured meths in to this
and stopped me just before I lit the puddle. Teachers. No sense of
adventure.

Well, I did it outside and had it up to pressure for a couple of minutes
before letting the others come and watch, will that do?

For any sane sensible person yes I'm sure it would, for elfen safety peeps
though I dunno.

Creamy, with a mystical touch of disincentive.
