is there any software that lets me filter out blues or add reds in an
avi file?

I need it because as you know avi videos taken with compact photo
camera are rich in blues and lack reds

Please let me know if you know any software that can do that

Are you using some sort of editing software on this video already?
Many video editing applications (NLE) implement color correction
functionality.  And there are likely standalone (command-line)
applications that do the same.  How the video got that way? What
are your expectations? etc.

It would be very helpful to know the context. What kind of computer,
operating system, editing application, etc.

Note that in severe cases so much of the missing color was
filtered out that there is none to "restore".  Is this a case where
video was shot outdoors (5600) using the indoors/tungsten
(3200) filter/setting?

Do you happen to know which audio/video codecs are used in your .avi
file? If you don't, then GSpot should be able to tell you. It's a free
download.

More importantly, do you happen to know whether or not you have
ACM/VCM versions of the required codecs properly installed on your
system? If you do, then you can use the free VirtualDub program to
perform your color correction.

Note that VirtualDub only supports the use of ACM/VCM codecs. It does
not support the use of DirectShow filters. That's why you'll need
ACM/VCM versions of the required codecs on your system in order to use
VirtualDub.

VirtualDub includes an HSV (Hue/Saturation/Value) adjust filter that
may do all that you need to do to fix your file. If it doesn't provide
the capability that you need, then download the following
R/G/B/Saturation/Contrast filter.

Put the file rgbsc.vdf (contained within the above .zip archive) into
VirtualDub's "plugins" subdirectory, relaunch VirtualDub, and you'll
be able to make all of the adjustments that you need, with individual
control over the red, green, and blue channels.
