Midland Alan 48 Excel Multi - info needed
I need some help here.

I bought the Alan 48 excel multi about 18 months ago after hearing it was
the dogs. Multiband at the push of a button, cool.

Seems some of them do a whole bunch of band switching at the push of a
button. Mine don't. Well it sort of does, I can recieve all non UK/EU bands
by selecting the band at startup but only tx on Muppet and CEPT bands.

I have seen a PCB mod to hardwire bands but the 4 PCB jumpers used just
ain't there on my rig, I can't cut a solder link if there isn't one.

£90 nearly and it is little more than a paper weight.

Anyone know where I am at with this.

Thanks.

You'll get more joy posting in the forums at transmission1.co.uk. This
is effectively a dead group.

Hi Paddy,

They made two versions, one was an 80ch FM rig and the other was multi
channel modulation. If the push button under the meter says UK/EU instead of
PA, then you've got the old original 80ch FM rig, which stopped selling late
2004. If it says PA, then you're not using the functions properly.

Thanks for the pointers,

It is definitely the Multi, little button reads cb/pa and has a label
saying it'set to CEPT' and to 'refer to proper procedures' to change the
band.

Cheers all, will follow up the links and post a follow up if I have any
joy.

Cheers

Not totally dead - thanks Connor !
I am sure your advice was wise though.
I prefer the Usenet group format to these new fangled forums.
Oh ! The good old days.

I am still in a quandary re demise of Geocities.
I have got several part started alternatives but have come to a dummies halt
on them all (:-(
