ground plane for cb antenna
I've just bought a ground plane kit for a CB antenna. It's a bit
basic - just a square metal plate with four radials coming off it.
Being a newbie I'm a bit confused as to how it should be connected.
Should the ground plane be connected to the shield of the cable or the
core?

You generally fit the antenna mount to the plate, the radials to the plate,
the coax to the mount and the antenna to the mount.

The mount should connect the shield to the ground plane.

Re: ground plane for cb antenna
if you have the right aerial and mount it should seem obvious..
but if you have a groundplane and a aerial but no mounting then your
shafted..
the mounting should go through the groundplane and then coax should connect
to the mount,
the groundplanes are pretty good in making a decent mobile aerial into a
base aerial..
