totally OT: Spud guns
Hi This is totally OT but if you like messing around with nerdy things like
CB radio then you will love this.

Run a Goole on Spud guns or spud cannons. Go to your nearest plumbers
supplies to get some pipe and then buy a piezo ingniter off of eBay. About
20 quid later you can build a spud gun that is the closest things to WMD you
will ever see.

Powered by a 2 second squirt of deodorent the spud is sent into space!!

If you dont belive me then have a look on youtube under spud guns.

Have fun

Whilst we're on about home made spud guns, you can't beat a "Swede
Grenade". Some of us used to use them on exercise in the Army. Far
better than the crap they gave you which made a feeble bang and that's
all.

For a swede grenade you need a swede, although small turnip/large spud
would suffice, and a crow banger. Crow bangers can be bought from
Farmers suppliers (one of the joys of living in the sticks) and are
basically several large firecrackers on a long bit of string.

Take swede, cut pineapple grenade pattern in it making the grooves
about an inch deep for optimum dispersal. Hollow out the centre enough
to fit the crow banger in. Remove crowbanger from the string, which
should leave you with a 1" fuse, and put it in the swede.

Light and lob. Far.

How about taking the safety labels off everything, and let the
stupidity-problem solve itself?

They demonstrate one of these at the Glasgow Science Centre by firing the
spud through a tennis racket to make chips!

What a fantastic idea! Iv made my second spud gun but the chamber was too
small and didnt send the spud flying out of the barrel. Im going to have a
rethink and by next week have it going :)
