is there a forum that you can quickly scan through the daily questions,
a bit like a newsgroup without having to spend ages looking through the
various category's threads ETC

No, every forum has a search function e.g.
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/search.php?

On RCgroups at least, you can configure to see only those sections that
interest you, and indeed 'subscribe' to threads, if thats all you want
to see.

Frankly ALL the posts in EVERY category would take a lot LONGER.

I much prefered this newsgroup when it was alive and kicking but as
there only 3 or so still posting its about dead, so I might have to lurk
in a forum ,
just curious Nat what part of the world are you in?

UK, of course.

You will find me on rcgroups, but not under this name.

This NG is dead already.

The fact that you can post photos, detail builds, and get access to
hundreds of smart modellers on e.g. rcgroups means there is little point
asking anything here.

I only normally answer, or direct people TO RCgroups. Could be any of
the others, but that's the one I use cos its 90% electric.

Ought to set up a autopost to here saying 'we all left: find us in the
links above'

and leave it running..

just curious do you rely on the ESC to power the radio on big models or
do you have a receiver battery as well?

So far haven't been over 200W. So use ESC BECS. Have some SBECS for
larger.theres a 6 servo plane in my minds eye later this year..and 8
seems not unreasonable wit retracts, flaps, ailerons all taking two, and
a rudder and elevator.

I would be bound to let the rx battery go flat....why have yet another
thing to charge..

Paul McIntosh ? His website at http://www.rc-bearings.com is still up but
Kaspersky is giving me loads of warnings about it so I don't know what's gone
wrong there...
