Hi

Can anyone help me out with the valuation of a 1980 edition £2 coin.
Its in grat condition, my parents gave it to me years ago and I have
just found it again after clearing out their attic

Thanks in advance

Re: Valuation
Hi

Useful site but I can't find any relevant listing. I can find a
listing for a 1986 coin but not a 1980 £2 coin.

Cheers

Are you sure the date is 1980? I don't think 2 pound coins were made in the
U.K. until much later. Give a description of your piece and then maybe
someone can help.

Ah. You clearly have a gold £2 with George & the Dragon on the reverse.

This is gold, and thus a bullion coin, rather than one issued at face value.
It is listed under Post-1971 Silver & Gold Bullion Coins,
and is valued at about £200, depending on the price of gold.

Sorry - my mistake - it was 1986 not 1980. I should have looked closer
the first time. Its a 1986 XIII Commonwealth Games Scotland Coin with
a thistle on the back. Bah! Thaks anyway for all your posts.
