New UK two pound coin in circulation
This morning I received one of the new 2007 Act of Union
two pound coins in change (along with one of the Brunel issues
and a @@RARE@@ 2007 necklace coin) ;-)
The former is now illustrated on my website at
http://www.ukcoinpics.co.uk/dec/200/index.html
(and it is time for a coffee....)

Um,
The caption says "Bicentenary of the Union of England and Scotland,
2007". Isn't it the Tricentenary?
As always, though, it's a great website.
take care,

Ooops. You are correct, of course.
Changed in two tics.
Thank-you.

I liked the UK 2 pound coin I received when I changed some US$ at Dulles
Airport before departing on a London vacation. Sadly, I never encountered
another one in change during my week in the UK. Aren't they popular?

They are not often seen in circulation presumably because shops don't ask
for them at the bank. Billy

Re: New UK two pound coin in circulation
From memory they are also rather large so it's just as easy to use 2 x 1
pound coins.

We recieved the U.K. two pound coins frequently in London over the
last three trips... perhaps they are used less frequently in the
countryside and Scotland.

My trip was two years ago and I based out of London. Took most meals and
refreshments there in the pubs. I got lots of one pound coins in change,
but nary a two. Unless it was unnoticed after five or six pints.........

Re: New UK two pound coin in circulation
I got both £2 in change within days of each other at the start of this
month. They booth look to me to be a slightly different metal mix from
previous years. Both are not particularly high quality strikes judging
from rim detail, but both are almost proof like in terms of mirror like
surfaces.
I quite like the simplicity of the designs.

That is not my experience - I see them in change frequently here in
Eastern England. I had four the other day, the three I mentioned and another
common one.

No, please note that the traditional American $20 double eagles weighs
rather more than one troy ounce -- it is the pure gold content that
comes in at 0.96 troy oz.
