Can anyone point me in the direction of any vendors offering reasonable
prices for 40 Gallon long Fish Tanks..(48" x 12" x 14")

Lots but given the "USA" in your posting and the fact that you think you 
can get 40 gallons into a tank that size implies that the freight charges 
might be a bit high.
