New Set-Up
Hi Everybody
Just in the process of setting up a new tank. When it's all up and running
and nicely settled in I would like to start off with a large shoal of
Cardinal Tetra's. Where in the UK can I get best value for money???
With Thanks

Depends where you are in the Country and how far you want to travel. Most
LFS will keep fish in local water conditions without modifying it, so if you
are going to be using tap, you want somewhere that has already acclimatised
them for you.

Re: New Set-Up
Hi Mark
Thanks for getting back to me.
I've have been given a used tank that needs a bit of TLC. I have just moved
house so things quite hectic at the moment. When I've finished cleaning up
the tank which is 48x24x18 I will be filling it with RO water and then plant
it up and let it settle down for a few weeks before I introduce any fish.
I live in south Cumbria but don't mind traveling out as far as the Leeds
area or down to the Manchester/Cheshire area. I did hear about a place
called Royal Discus in St Helens, run by Dawn & Dominic, who were doing
Cardinals at really good prices but they don't seem to be trading any more.
If anybody knows them I'd love their contact details.
Are there any quality forums around that gets less crap than this one and
maybe a little more activety.
With Thanks

Re: New Set-Up
Ahh, Royal Discus. They used to buy a few discus from me in their early
years and I gave them a few hints on importing. Just been to look at their
site, have they stopped trading????
Cheshire Waterlife is quite good. It is just off J19 of the M6, maybe a bit
too far? There is also Calico Aquatics a couple of junctions up from Penrith
(although they are mainly marine, I think they have some trops too). I live
in Leeds and can't think of any LFS I would recommend to you for trops. I
have heard some good reports of UK Aquatics www.uk-aquatics.com, don't know
if they are any good for you? I'm not sure too many people come here
anymore, most go to http://groups.google.ca/group/The-Freshwater-Aquarium,
but it is mainly American.
How many cardinals were you looking at buying? If you ask a local shop
nicely if you can buy them straight from them via the wholesaler (i.e. fish
delivered to store but not placed in their tanks) you may get a decent
price, but then you have to accept what you get.
