Angels - How Many?
Hello all,
I'm planning on getting a "few" angel fish this afternoon for my 180L Juwel
Rio tank, there are some mature Melon Barbs in there and a plec but that's
about it. My question is, if I buy a "few" juvenile angels, what would be
an ideal number for their social happiness, given my tank
volume/dimensions?!
Cheers,
R.

Depends on the angels themselves and your tank decor.
I had 6 in my Rio 400 which was Ok until they wanted to pair off.
That's when all hell broke lose :-)
I ended up keeping 4 in the rio.
These adults have never produced fertilized eggs but must still consider
themselves "paired" and there is still the occasional fighting but not as
much as the two I took out who being bullied.
It was so bad I think I would have lost both if I hadn't moved them.
These two turned out to be a real pair who produce wrigglers every month or
so.
If it is juvenile angels you're getting, I would start with six (that way
you should end up with a breeding pair) and remove as you have to.
If adults, try four and hope for the best ;-)

Thanks for the advice, after all that I ended up getting a lone Blue
Acara... had one a long time ago and have a soft spot for them!
Cheers,
Richard.
