Time to go.
After carfeully considering the time I have available I have decided that
its time for me to go
back to being DESC again.
So I wanted to pick you brains.
(1) Does anybody here run an effective Distrcit Explorer Scout Forum? If
so what is teh format and what do yuo try to achieve with it?
(2) I am doing a night incident hike. The theme is "Fright Night" and
its on Halloween so teh incidents so far are:
1 - Air rifles at glow stud targets.
2 - Fire arrows (from a bloke who knows how to do it properly)
3 - Swing over a bucket with a candle in the bottom and put it out by
dropping water on it.
4 - 20 minutes to learn a 30 second version of the "Thriller" zombie dance
and perform it as a team *
5 - Follow a trail of flashing lights through the woods.
6 - Tennis ball launcher target shooting (Gilwell approved design)
7 - Light a fire just using a battery and wire wool.
Possiblilites are
- Laser target shooting
- Looking for buried "treasure" with metal detectors.
- "Bomb disposal" using helium balloons
- Confidence course - Rope traverse between several large trees.
Any other suggestions would be more than welcome

Almost forgot
(3) Gillinghams Got *** all Talent
A talent show for all age groups designed to get badges.
With the right amount of support work, they can use it for
Not sure about the little 'uns but
BS = Imagination?
Cubs = Entertainer
Scouts = Entertainer (or creative challenge)
ES = Performing Arts (25 hours) and /or CSA/QSA/DofE Skill (12/24/48 hours)
NW = CSA/QSA/DofE Skill (12/24/48 hours)
Plus anybody can use it towards Musicians Staged Badge and if as I plan teh
money all goes to a chairty then it wouldn't be a stretch to count it as a
service option instead.

I stopped two years ago when I took up teaching and really didn't have the
time.
It took me most of last year to find a method of lanning lessons and
developing resources that I am happy with, and I am just getting to teh
point where the stuff I developed last year is good enough to use without
too many changes.
I still won't have teh same free time that I had with my previous job but I
definatly have more control over weekends and can shuffle my homework
timetable to give something that isn't marked, like research for a practical
in teh next lesson.
Since I stopped nobody else has come forward, we havn't had a full time DC
for three years, and so its all fallen to bits.
