Memory map help pls
If I open a map in Memory Map how do I get rid of it without deleting it
from whence it was loaded please? If I simply delete the map it also
deletes it from the file I had stored it in.

Not sure where you are coming from but if you just want to view another
MM map just load it and it will replace the previous one. Otherwise just
close MM.

When re-opening memory map after closing the list of maps previously are
still there. The only way I can find to remove them from the list is to
delete them, unfortunately that also deletes them from the file from
whence they came, so they are lost forever. Well until you re-load them
from the DVD, which is a pain.

Why do you want to remove maps from the list? Why does it matter which
maps are listed there? You can still choose which one to load from the
list.
And you don't need to use that list at all, you can just scroll to the
area you want, then scale in to the appropriate map.
Anyway, if you click on "Refresh map list", you can choose which folders
Memory Map will look in. So if you move your maps to a different folder,
they won't appear in that list.

I find that when I am "exploring" to pick out places to visit I end up
with so many maps in the list that I have difficulty finding the one I
want later. However the folder information is fine, thanks.

I've probably got a hundred or so maps loaded, so on the map list. But I
hardly ever use it for picking a map to view.
I usually just scale out to the 1:250K map, then scroll around, then
scale in on the one I want.
Or use the "Find" option. Just type in a place name, then it will jump
straight to the largest scale map of that area.

What exactly are we talking about here ?
After you posted the question on the Garmin newsgroup,
you came to these other groups -
but we still have no idea of what you are talking about ??
Is "Memory Map" a brand name device - a GPS mapping device ?
Just so we all get a little educated...
could you post the info back on the Garmin newsgroup

Are you refering to "Routes"?
You can simply right hand mouse click on a route (usually coloured
blue) and select "Hide". That way you can hide all of the routes in
the area you are exploring and this provides a cleaner map area (if
this is what you are reffering to)
Hope this helps!

I never use the map list. In fact I'd forgotten you could even do that!

Exactly. Simple.
