Flying with guns
Moving to Jersey shortly. No game shooting there so will need to come
back to the UK. Is there a FAQ/web-site that lists the various airlines'
policy on carrying firearms?

TIA

Derek.

well, I have a wee bit about this on my web site --
http://www.countrysports.co.uk/sheets/countrysports_refence_txt_page_1.htm#Shotguns

just avoid Ryanair and also Flybe (but have they changed their name now?)
these airlines have a blanket ban on firearms. Only other limitation is that
some of the smaller planes which do not have a closed hold ... so passengers
could access the hold from the passenger area within the aircraft - will not
carry firearms (flights from Aberdeen to Esborg, Denmark for example). Way
around the problem is ALWAYS tell the airline or booking agent, that you
will be carrying sporting firearms at the time of booking, so they can check
this. I always request a faxed confirmation that this will be OK.
As far as I know, there is no authoritative web site which summarises this
info. because it can change at any time.

just avoid Ryanair and also Flybe (but have they changed their name now?)
these airlines have a blanket ban on firearms.
As far as I know, there is no authoritative web site which summarises this
info. because it can change at any time.

could access the hold from the passenger area within the aircraft - will not
carry firearms (flights from Aberdeen to Esborg, Denmark for example). Way
around the problem is ALWAYS tell the airline or booking agent, that you
will be carrying sporting firearms at the time of booking, so they can check
this. I always request a faxed confirmation that this will be OK.

well, I have a wee bit about this on my web site --

just avoid Ryanair and also Flybe (but have they changed their name now?)
these airlines have a blanket ban on firearms. Only other limitation is that
some of the smaller planes which do not have a closed hold ... so passengers
could access the hold from the passenger area within the aircraft - will not
carry firearms (flights from Aberdeen to Esborg, Denmark for example). Way

well, I have a wee bit about this on my web site --
http://www.countrysports.co.uk/sheets/countrysports_refence_txt_page_1.htm#Shotguns

just avoid Ryanair and also Flybe (but have they changed their name now?)
these airlines have a blanket ban on firearms. Only other limitation is that
some of the smaller planes which do not have a closed hold ... so passengers
could access the hold from the passenger area within the aircraft - will not
carry firearms (flights from Aberdeen to Esborg, Denmark for example). Way
around the problem is ALWAYS tell the airline or booking agent, that you
will be carrying sporting firearms at the time of booking, so they can check
this. I always request a faxed confirmation that this will be OK.

well, I have a wee bit about this on my web site --
http://www.countrysports.co.uk/sheets/countrysports_refence_txt_page_1.htm#Shotguns

just avoid Ryanair and also Flybe (but have they changed their name now?)
these airlines have a blanket ban on firearms.
