Prescott catering, 6th May
[FollowUp-To: uk.sport.motorsport]
I have no idea how many people still read these groups, but I don't know
where else to say this. I was at Prescott hillclimb on 6th May, and with
one exception it was a very enjoyable day.

The exception was the catering at lunchtime, which was bordering on the
farcical, and frankly a disgrace for such an important event.

The queues were absolutely absurd: *many* people were waiting half an
hour for a burger, which is unacceptable, full stop. The choice of hot
food was feeble: burgers, hot dogs and chips seemed to be the sum total.
How can you have a hillclimb without even offering bacon rolls!? Moving
the food hut to a "facing the path" position was also a big mistake, as
it meant that many people queuing had to wait on the steep slope down to
the path - very uncomfortable when queueing for this amount of time!

I must say that the burger I eventually obtained was thick, tasty and
quite good value, and I have no quarrel with the work put in by the staff
in the hut. But compare this with what was available in the "old"
building on the edge of the paddock, or indeed with what was available
last year, and the deterioration is painfully obvious.

I was *very* far from being the only person to be annoyed by this: I
overheard people complaining about the catering all through the day,
several of whom decided that it wasn't worth going to buy anything else
because of the wait. So this was a bad commercial decision as well!

Unfortunately I'm not going to "La vie en bleu" later this month, but I
do hope to be back at Prescott in September, and if the catering
situation hasn't improved markedly by then, something will be very wrong
indeed.

Write to the Bugatti Owners Club at Prescott. They own and operate
the place, and are responsible for contracting out the catering.

http://www.prescott-hillclimb.com/contactus.htm

(IME, the catering at Prescott has never been *that* good.)

Oh, contact has already been made with the BOC. I just felt like having a
good whinge here too! (And you're right, it's never been stunning, but this
was very markedly worse than it was last September.)

Sadly, these newsgroups are all but dead. This is the first postings I've
seen here for months, possibly years.

Hopefully it will have improved again by the time I compete there
in July. That, and it won't slash down with rain like it has the
last 2 years.

uk.sport.motorsport has never really lived up to its possibilities, which
is a great shame as I was one of the people who supported its creation way
back when, given that there wasn't really a suitable NG at the time.

I tend to avoid the July meetings because of other commitments, so I've
been rather lucky there. Mind you, having seen (in photos) the amount of
rain that fell at the "La vie en bleu" meeting recently, Prescott may have
used up its rain allocation for the year!

I tend to avoid the July meetings because of other commitments, so I've
been rather lucky there. Mind you, having seen (in photos) the amount of
rain that fell at the "La vie en bleu" meeting recently, Prescott may have
used up its rain allocation for the year!

Write to the Bugatti Owners Club at Prescott. They own and operate
the place, and are responsible for contracting out the catering.

Hopefully it will have improved again by the time I compete there

last 2 years.

uk.sport.motorsport has never really lived up to its possibilities, which
is a great shame as I was one of the people who supported its creation way
back when, given that there wasn't really a suitable NG at the time.
