H1 Kawasaki stolen from Spencer's Wood, Berkshire
My Kawasaki H1 was nicked from outside my house in Spencer's Wood (just
south of Reading) on Wednesday night (01/07/09). I have owned this bike
for about 12 years and rode it most days. It is in 100% original,
unrestored condition. I absolutely love this bike, but it never
occurred to me that anyone would steal it - an a H1 is, after all,
something of an acquired taste.

I know it is a long shot, but if anyone sees this bike I would be
really grateful if you could pass any information on to Thames Valley
Police (0845 8 505 505) or drop me a note to "martinl at prel dot co
dot uk".

Thanks.

Parts, mate. Worth a fortune.

If you don't know what you're doing, don't do it. And RTFM.

I guess my old H1 would be worth a lot as parts - I suppose I am hoping
that whoever nicked this would not be prepared to go to the effort
necessary to dismantle it; but then perhaps there are crooked breakers
who don't mind receiving bikes of doubtful provenence.

I will keep an eye on ebay for any sudden appearance of H1 parts. Do
you have any idea what other channels might be commonly used for
shifting stolen/dismantled bikes?

I bought this bike (from a dealer) for less than ?1000 about 12 or so
years ago and now it looks like I would need to pay more like ?3000 to
replace it. I am a bit shocked.

It's very little effort to disdmantle a bike. Trust me. Mantling one is
what takes effort.

Unlikely to be a breaker - more a bent private individual.

Good idea. Set up some searches, and they email you daily.

Ebay is pretty much universal for parts now, and it's global, and H1s
are in demand global, so this would be my bet.

Might be worth sending a message to these guys:

If the bits don't turn up on Ebay they're going to turn up at one of their
autojumbles.....
