Your title fails to point out that the 82MPH in question was in a 30
limit, and the he'd been snapped seven times on the same stretch of
road, three times at over 80.
In short, he's a fucking idiot who deserves everything he's got.

That road accounts for 3 of the points on my license! It's urban
mostly-dual carriageway, some of it going downhill quite steeply, so
it's incredibly easy to edge over the limit. The cameras are fairly
obvious however.
Although it's tempting to ignore the forward-facing cameras when you're
on a motorbike, 80mph is plainly idiotic. Especially when there are so
many houses with driveways which pull out directly onto that road.

Oh god...
Look, I appreciate that you're a bit hard of thinking, but try to follow
this.
If he'd done it just once, Plod would probably have looked at the photo
and thought "cheeky fucker". End of.
When he did it seven times, Plod took a major interest :- he gets
identified, and gets a nicking.
There, clear now?

You misunderstand, it's not the riding that makes him a fucking idiot,
it's the sheer stupidity of repeatedly tweaking Plod's nose until they
put down the doughnuts long enough to do something about it.

Indeed. That's why I suspended my happy practice of charging past the
local forward-facing camera[1] with one digit rigidly extended
skywards. I decided my bikes were a bit too recogniseable and Plod
might have a sense of humour failure.

Exactly, if you're going to do that sort of thing. Do it once or twice
and a long way from home. Wasn't there some MAG muppet who kept
tripping the same camera at the same time each week and as in this

Not before time. I was getting blisters cursing you for it. All

I don't know about MAG, but ISTR someone did it repeatedly a while back,
and plod (rather cleverly IMHO) managed, by studying the pics, to work
out that *that* model & colour of BMW bike, with *that* option list
(mirrors, luggage and something else) combination had only been sold to
something like 20 people, UK-wide, and only a very few in the immediate
area, thus they went round to their houses, one by one, until they found
they bloke whose face matched the pics they had.

Happened to a FOF, had 9 points and got stopped for IIRC 110 in a 60.
I assumed he'd get banned under the toting up and that's a standard 6
months. He got an instant ban for some odd number of days 33[1] again
IIRC and his licence came back with just the ban on it.
[1] banned again a couple of months after getting his licence back for
140 plus in a 70, 42 days I think.

I don't even think they neded to match the face (which would have been
invisible behind a full face lid anyway).
One of the crucial factors was that his BMW had the extra spotlights
fitted. And they had enough to convict.

In aviation, there's a saying when you make a fool of yourself or a major
fuck-up like entering controlled airspace or low flying where you shouldn't,
if you get away with it.
And that is;
_Never_ go back for an encore!
Morale; if you get away with it once, think yourself lucky and don't be a
prat by repeating it, especially in the same bloody place!

Oh - IRTA '82mph wheelie bin'. I had to check that Petel hadn't
started a new project.
Sounds like the guy in that report was a cheeky fucker, although the
'recognition experts' thing caused a chuckle. Did they think
'policemen with a photograph' wasn't posh enough or something?

Oooh yes, that rings a bell.

I don't particularly agree with the court's 'dangerous' decision, but
he's a fucking idiot to be doing it so often down the same stretch.

I was surprised to see covering your number plate gets you a month in
gaol for perverting the course of justice.

IIRC, as of recently, it's now a fixed penalty and 3 points offence, if
plod want to be difficult.
And the withdrawal of your registration, and issuing of a Q-plate, to
persistent offenders.

Perhaps you could arrange a tailpack to look like it had slipped over
the back end of the bike without you noticing.

I'm sorry, but I don't for one minute believe that Dainese only
imported two green jackets in that style into the UK. Not a fucking
chance. Just as well I wear plain black kit with virtually
indistinguishable black logos when I go hooning. Maybe they'll get me
on the fact that I wear a black Arai Condor with a silver
logo...because we all know how rare they are, don't we Champ, Monz etc

What difference would a Q plate make though?

Re-sale value drops hugely.
Insurance can also be an issue, with some InsCos.
