Which is as it should be. Try pinging any of the websites I look after
and you would get the same (even if the website it up).

Usefully, www.bbc.co.uk always responds to a ping, which is why I use
it as a quick test of internet connectivity when required.

Indeed. There are some exceptions (I seem to recall the Demon website
is also pingable) but it's pretty rare.
