Fucks sake - you actually swallowed enough Fernet Branca to get a
hangover?
Burnt brought some back from a foreign trip and I tried it at his
place. The smell is appalling, but the taste worse. One sip was
enough for me to know I never, ever wanted to taste it again.

Gammel Dansk, anybody? Just in case there are Danish lurkers. Perhaps I
should put my 20yo, half-finished bottle on eBay - in the masochism section.

Why drink it at all if it's revolting? Surely you're drinking for
pleasure, not pure addiction?
I have enough trouble with Benedictine and Unicum [1]. Actually, I've
yet to come across a herbal liqueur that wasn't revolting.
[1] No, really, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unicum

I like Benedictine, but it gives me bad hangovers, so I avoid it these
days.

But you're well-known for liking disgusting stuff. What was that Czech

Indeed. You seem to actively go out of your way to acquire teh
strangest of tastes.

You could, of course, drink less of it. Or go for a B&B, which is how
we drink it.

Aww yeah. I love that stuff.
Jägermeiste too.
Never tried Fernet Branca.
I'll keep an eye out for it though.

A B&B?
In any case, when I drink, I tend to drink a lot, over a prolonged
session, so restraint isn't really for me :) [1]
[1] although I don't drink enough, fast enough, that I get hammered -
just enough to quietly sip and chat to folk ... I recall Wik The Wecker
and I polished off 3 bottles of sambuca in one evening doing just that,
as an example

Brandy and Benedictine in equal quantities. Same principle as a Rusty
Nail (whisky and Drambuie), which we also like!

Oh I like Rusty Nails, so I'd give it a go, yes.

Not bad for $350

It's still a hit amongst American college students, and we know how

And this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Becherovka is the stuff you were
going for at ours, if I'm not mistaken. Compares it with the FB, so no
wonder I wouldn't touch it.

Can't have been stronger than the 95% ethanol I picked up in Sardinia a
couple of years ago. I know it's meant for diluting to make liqueurs,
but I couldn't resist trying it neat.
Warm, is the only word that really describes it. Very warm.
