She's Scottish - that's what McD's put in the shakes up there! Her's was
just an unfortunate reaction.

I'm also wondering what the Scottish definition of "normal" is, for her

Since when has Teesside been in Jockland? My understanding is that it's
the area around Middlesborough and Redcar.

well. Probably - cheap cider is fucking shit. Good high-% single

The Baileys is the only one of that lot I'd drink.

See that's the trouble with this society. If you don't prove how hard
you are by getting totally trolleyed on disgusting mixes of drinks you
don't like, everyone thinks you're a wuss. Would the same apply if I
didn't want a tuna, custard, chocolate & marmite sandwich? Obviously
not.

Anyway I'd much rather get trolleyed on a decent red wine, & leave the
'ooh look how 'ard I am' mixes to those who feel the need to prove
something.

Oh yes, lots of proper cocktails are great (hence the reason I
virtually lived in TGI's when it was open). Experimental ones can be
good too. 'Shock' cocktails otoh[1] are universally shite.

I admit it - I love Baileys. Best breakfast ever when camping in

I used to *really* like proper Long Island Iced Tea. Doesn't seem the
same made with diet coke.

There's only so many good combinations.

*snort*

My current fave is Grand Marnier, and if next weekend's Normandy trip
goes ahead I'll stock up on the Jaune variant, coz I love that even
more, and haven't seen it here.

I'm still quite into that red aftershock stuff as well, but I won't
admit that, as you'll take the piss.

While on Jersey I rediscovered my love of Sambucca. Sadly the sugar
content means I can't drink as much as I'd like (while - at this
precise moment - is several bottles worth) but I still have a snifter
of it now and then..

Oddly, that's the other drink I really like ATM too ... but not the
black stuff, coz whatever they bung in that gives me *minging*

It's called, "drink the whole bottle". The next morning you don't feel

I've tried that, except it was 2 bottles. I still love the stuff,

far far too sweet for me to drink on its own. Cocktail wise, I've
recently been drinking mostly Margueritas.

heh. Don't know that I've ever had it. It is a girl's/skiiers drink
though, isn't it?

you think Black Sambuca is bad for hangovers?

Try Fernet Branca.

Even reading the ingredients list makes me feel a bit bilious (/Myrhh/
and Rhubarb for starters.)

I like sweet cocktails I must admit ... faves would be Japanese Slippers
and B52s.

Still like the odd vodka or gin martini though, obviously.

Nah, it's more of a "headbanger's big night out" thing IME - the binge
drinking crowd go for it in a big way, which isn't really me either ...
45% abv if memory serves ... I just love cinnamon. And liqueurs. So
it's a winner.

Ye gods :(

What the hell does it taste of? Forget it, I wouldn't try anything with
rhubarb in anyway.

I once saw a bottle of green liqueur in a bar in Amsterdam with a
sodding dead, gutted *lizard* in the bottle ... I asked what it tasted
of, and the barman replied no-one had ever been pissed enough to want to
try it. He asked me if I fancied a pop, but I politely declined.

tried Goldschläger, then?

Mix it 50:50 with Jägermeister to make a "Liquid Cocaine" - that's
actually quite nice.

My other all-time favourite. And healthy - all the citrus in it slows
down the absorption of the sugar in it..

Yeah. I don't like it as much.

I'm not sure that appeals, but if I'm ever in the unlikely situation
where I've bought a bottle of both drinks then I'll give it a go.

Have you tried holding a couple of shots of that in the front of your
mouth?
First it prickles, and then you can't feel your teeth for the rest of the
evening.
It's icky.
