Don't worry - the GS500 is so small that lightning could never hit it ...

If it's going to be ridden in the rain I might pop over later and spend
five minutes watching it rust.

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the
drugs began to take hold. I remember totallydeadmailbox@yahoo.co.uk (The
Older Gentleman) saying something like:

Lovely late summer day here, with the distant sound of chainsaws and the
hammering of builders from the next field.

I wish it would storm here. It's been raining most of the morning and
feels horrible and sticky out.

So how come mine is showing no signs of rust. 03 K2 so it should be
showing up by now if there is a problem.
OTOH, I look after my bikes and spray chainwax on the hidden and
vulnerable bits to keep the wet at bay as well as polishing the
visible paintwork.

Any bike will turn into a ratty heap if neglected.
To be fair, cheap commuter bikes are probably more prone to neglect
than expensive boys toys, but that is a problem with the owners, not
the bikes.
