Floor Space for Large Dog
Hi All,
I'm a new arrival on the shores of this newsgroup, and I'd be grateful for
some advice. My wife and I bought a 1989 "Landsleeper" Motorhome last year.
We very much like the design of the layout of the interior as we have a
large German Shepherd dog, and the van has a wide area of floor space behind
the dining area where the dog can lie without us having to step over him.
Unfortunately, the van has proved to be less reliable than we'd hoped (we
should have known really, but that's another story), and we're considering
splashing out some more serious cash on an upgrade. We're looking for a
6-berth, with over-cab sleeping for our 6-year old son, + plenty of room for
the dog to stretch out on the floor. Our local supplier has a Bessacarr
E695 from 1999 which we're very interested in, but, probably because the
lounge area at the rear of the van is U-shaped rather than the L-shaped
lounge of our old van, there is less floor space for the dog.
Because we haven't been able to find many 6-berth vans to look at, we don't
really know if the old, or new layouts are more typical, and if we were just
lucky with th layout of the old van, or whether to hold out until we find
something with more space.
Can anyone advise?
Regards,
Tim Pennick

Dunno about what's available as standard, but if you don't want U-shaped
seating, and don't need to use it as a double bed (Presumably this is it's
secondary use?) you could pretty easily cut down half/some/all of one of the
U sides and make it into an L-shaped area. Upholstery is a little more
complicated, but the seat frame will be basically a wood frame with ends
tacked on. :)
