Autosleeper Duetto Engine Computer Unit Problem
We have a 1998 Autosleeper Duetto - Ford Transit 2.5litre Turbo Diesel
Automatic. The engine is malfunctioning. Our local garage put it on
it's tester and it shows up a problem with the Engine Computer Unit
(ECU). They tried to find a second hand one - no success. They then
ordered a new one - none available (its been on 'back order' for a
couple of weeks now). The unit is made by Lucas but the garage tell me
that the later versions were made by Bosch. Lucas can't help with
testing or fixing it because it is an obsolete ECU for them. Bosch
can't help because it is made by Lucas. Does anyone have any ideas to
help us get our Duetto back on the road? Thanks Rocky

What is the nature of the malfunction ? What error codes are stored ?
These units are very reliable and often the problem is elsewhere in the
wiring or connections. I would advise that you do not take your van to a
Ford main dealer but seek out a diesel specialist in your area. Your main
dealer will tell you where they send their diesel 'problems' to.
