I love the area, and usually spend some time in Betws-y-Coed round Sept.

So, Maybe I'll be there, but I'm not fussed on fishing much these days.

If you see a small semi-geodesic tent in the foyer when you arrive - it
may be me :-)

If Dave can set up his Barbie in the lounge and Alec can bring more of
those delicious ribs - I'll definitely come.

We pigged out at Cwellyn eh?

This years gathering - Cwellyn this year?

Actually Bill I enjoyed that weekend immensely. We didn't catch any
fish, (nice walk along the lake though!), and the weather left a bit to
be desired but apart from the noisy kids it was worth doing I think.
Andy obviously enjoyed chatting up the young ladies and showing them how
to light a fire, (NO! Not light HIS fire - he's too old for that sort of
thing.)
It's got me thinking into maybe doing something similar in August.
Would there be any takers?

I did indeed especially the evening spent in Dave's "Conference Room"
tent :-)

The walk would have been nice but for the fishing gear and the thigh
boots!

It was great sitting together in the BIG tent with the rain hammering
down outside - very cosy.

 I'm up for it :+)

Incidentally - for the last couple few months there has been an outbreak
of cryptosporidium in the drinking water supplied to a large area
around here - with Cwellyn being identified as the source. So as
long as you don;t drink the water, you'll be fine.

Bill - glad you enjoyed the 'tent' evening, I will be sure to bring it
 again! And the bbq :+)

Piccies from the weekend are still up at:

 cheers all

Hi Dave,

I'm damned sure the four of us would never have got into MY tent :-)

Alec's tent had room only for a fly rod and a whippet :-)

No problem there Bill. I'll sit this one out as far as organising this
one. Just tell me where I am going to blank in August and I'll be there!
Mind you ,Dave and Andy: What was the lovely little lake/loch/lump of
water where you left me on my own and found me some time later suffering
from the effects of the heat and wandering all over the place :-)
Couldn't stand up straight for some reason.
Liked that one I did. Reckon it would do well in the right conditions.
Cheers,
Alec

If the question of alteranative is really being asked then:

Is there a camp site and pub at Nantlle? Now surely that would be Nirvanna?

or another venue further south such as Tal-y-Llyn?

I'm sure it was Dywarchen, although the reason for you wandering around and
having problems standing up was more than likely linked with those glazed
eyes you had! Must've been sunstroke <cough> ;o)

Tal-y-Llyn nr Corris/Machynlleth would be delightful.

I'm not saying I'll be there mind.

Don't blame them, It was I chickened out and did a runner :-)

I just couldn't stay another minute, there were such a lot of damned
inconsiderate walkers doing the three peaks challenge that upset me from
4.00am onwards. The kids made a lot of noise as well but not in the
morning.

fine by me... and yes, I'm sure that Dwyarchen would be much better on
a less tropical day. Just looking at that piccy again brought me out in a
  sweat, it were bloody hot!

If all decide that this is the time and place, I'm happy to nip down
to the pub and book us in...

Dwyarchen should be Dywarchen according to OS.

Does this mean Graham's camp site again ?
