Meriva
Has anybody had the problems that I have had with my 1.6 Meriva.

After a few miles the engine would run rough & then stop, no light showing
on the display, the car would restart without problems only to fail again
the same way.
Sometimes it would go for days without any problems.

Similar or slightly worse the alternator light would come on & the engine
would stop & would not start again for a few minutes (not good on a
motorway).

I took it to a Vauxhall dealer who diagnosed a dirty throttle barrel, only
to have the same problem again a couple of days later. Back to the dealer
again who had it overnight but could find no problems, collected the car &
after about 30 miles it failed again & would not start.
I managed to get it going & went back to the dealer, this time their
computer diagnosed a faulty EGR (?) valve.
I had had this replaced about 18 months ago.
Their cure was to blank off the valve & reprogram the cars computer.
I have since had no problems, but is this a known problem & is this a
Vauxhall fix.
