Supermarkets reduce fuel prices
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/7518516.stm
'Retailers Asda, Morrisons and Sainsbury's have all said they will lower
the price of petrol, prompted by falling oil prices.'
'Sainsbury's said petrol would be 5p per litre cheaper, but only for
customers who spend £50 or more.'
Cheeky cunts! They were happy to put the price up to all customers when
the price of oil was going up. Now they want to reduce the price, but
only to select customers?

Umm, they're just matching the offer that Tescos have had in place for
bloody years. Spend £50 in store, get a voucher for 5p/litre. Just like
this one here...
But somehow "Sainsburys finally match long-term Tesco promo" doesn't get
headlines, does it...?

Yup but you dont have to go to Sainsburys. Theyre only offering 1p lower
than the others. I dont really think that it will pull new customers into
their stores - their store prices are dearer that the others anyway.

Yeah, but the article is about supermarkets cutting fuel prices
generally. Asda and Morrisons have stated they're cutting fuel prices
and don't mention an offer. While Sainsburys have just rolled out the
good old offer thing thay've done for years.
Thanks Sainsburys; how about a cut in line with the reduction in the
wholesale fuel cost first, and *then* stick your offer on?

To be fair, it's not a permanent promotion at Tesco, but the latest
one has been running for at least three weeks round here. Quite a
clever one as well, as I suspect there are a lot of people like myself
and partner who don't use the petrol quick enough to use all the
vouchers, even with two cars.

Yebbut with the price of food rising, £50 ain't all that much.

Yeah, they've had that in the Tesco by our old house for years. Pity there
was no petrol station there. It would mean a 8 mile drive to use the
voucher... :-(

The supermarkets usually honour each other's vouchers for many things -
wonder if they would for the 5p/litre petrol vouchers...?

Tesco don't have that offer operating all the time. It's occasional only.

Warrington Tesco, 112p for unleaded, 117p Super unleaded, down from 116p
for unleaded, and 121p super. And they have the 5p off if you spend £50
too.
Should make quite a difference this week.

Nah, it's on and off, presumably depending on other factors.

Morrisons dropped their price by 4P per litre, without having to spend

95 RON is 113.9p at Tesco in York.
Then there's 5p off every full litre.

I can believe it. I think it's under a pound a litre at Pontefract.

They both have petrol stations here, dunno what price though. My local
garage is 128 for diesel, came down yesterday. They're always a couple
of p more than my nearest Tesco; that was 128 last weekend, dunno what
it's at now.

There's one at the Morrison's in Erith. Asda closed a lot of theirs
but there are still some left (High Wycombe is one, I think).

There are 2 Asda petrol stations near me selling unleaded at £111.9
per litre, pay at the pump with your card. Apparently, recently, money
wasn't taken from customer's accounts for a month. I only experienced
a 4 day delay.

Is that good? I prefer to know straight away what I've spent rather than get
a shock later when something forgotten suddenly rears it's ugly head.
I had a hard lesson taught years ago at a time when I could ill afford it.
The bank convinced me I would be better off making all my regular payments by
direct debit, sounded good, the clerk was very persuasive in pointing out the
benefits, I made 11 of them. Sadly I miscalculated, I 'forgot' (my fault)
something I bought earlier in the month and it came back to bite me in the
bum, had it been charged normally this would not have happened, all eleven
standing orders were not paid due to lack of funds and I was charged 330
pounds in penalties. A substantial chunk of my wages at the time.
Needless to say micro seconds after this information all direct debits were
cancelled and I have never entered in to one since. (I do sometimes have to
subscribe to a direct debit in order to get a service, but I cancel it after
whatever it was has been supplied).
There is another big ASDA fuel at Cribbs Causeway Bristol.

Two cowboys are talking over a beer, discussing various sex positions.
The first cowboy says his favorite position is "the rodeo".
The other cowboy asks what the position is, and how to do it. The first
cowboy says, "You tell your wife to get on the bed on all fours and then
do it doggy style. Once things start to get under way and she's really
enjoying it, lean forward, grab her by her hair and whisper in her ear,
'Your sister likes this position too.' Then try to hang on for 8 seconds".

15 Easy Steps to Poo like a Man:
1. Select reading material (can be anything except a porn-mag; tried by
every man once, but never repeated - see step 4).
2. Tell everyone along the way, "Just going for a dump, okay?" Always tell
girlfriend/wife, especially when she has visitors.
3. Pull pants and trousers around ankles, then sit down.
4 Adjust penis and testicles to hang comfortably without touching the
toilet rim.
5. Open reading material and relax.
6. Whilst waiting, it is traditional to audibly fart.
7. Sigh loudly as the first one bullets out. It is quite normal to
experience a cold jet of water rocket up your anus as a result of the
first bomb. This is to be endured if you want to be a real man.
8. Remain sitting and reading until pins-and-needles set in to your legs
and buttocks.
9. Rise and look at the poo. Make mental notes of any irregularities to
report to friends and girlfriend/wife, e.g. colour, consistency, any
visible traces of peanuts, etc. You must tell people about it.
10. Take long length of paper and wipe anus. You must look at the paper
before throwing it into the pan.
11. Repeat step 10 until there is no longer any evidence of faeces on the
paper.
12. Flush. If there is any residue left on the pan, under no circumstances
attempt to clean it off. In due course, it will come away by itself. Or,
when your girlfriend/wife next uses the loo.
13. Leave the seat up. Leave the reading material on the floor (you can
use it again later).
14. Wash your hands once.
15. Vacate the bathroom, leaving the door open. It is important to a man's
self-esteem that other people smell his produce.

Yes. Why not convert that one? Or is it a lorry? Can you get LPG

Yes it's a lorry and yes you can but the economics don't really make it
worth it as you have to run on a diesel/LPG mix.

I take it a petrol engined (therefore LPG convertable) lorry isn't
possible?

No. There used to be petrol lorries but the horrendous fuel economy and
the lack of torque made them unsuitable once the weight limits started
being raised. I'd hate to think how big the engine would be and how low
the MPG would be on a petrol engined lorry plated at 44 tonnes
(88,800lb for our American friends)

I had a petrol engined Bedford TK removals van a ,long time ago. 3.3 litre
and very fast.

The fuel economy wouldn't be a problem if you were using LPG.
If a petrol engine can pull a 2 tonne car as good as a diesel engine,
don't you just make the two engines 22 times bigger?

Because it doesn't work like that. Torque is the most important thing
here and it needs to be extremely low down the rev range. Petrol
engines do not have anywhere near the same amount of torque as the
equivalent diesel ones and its high up the revs as well.

Where in the rev range it is is irrelevant - that's what gearboxes are
for.
For many engines, 1,500rpm is loony-high-duck-the-bits revs. For others
it's not even idle speed.

I assume he means that a petrol engine would be high in the revs and
therefore consuming a lot of fuel to maintain a fully laden lorry's
speed. Whereas a diesel engine has a decent power oputput when almost
idling.
Mind you I've never quite understoood torque....

High Wycombe and Wheatley definitely. The latter is now card payment

It's available at enough. If you have a satnav you can program it with a free list of locations.
For example there are 4 on my way to work (40 minute journey).

The Jet here is 49.9p, 12p cheaper than any other nearby station.
