I'll give a tenner to the first person to acheive the same feat on a

Your money is safe, the offence of speeding can, in law, only be
committed by drivers of *motor* vehicles.

If anyone did a wheelie anywhere in the Diablo 'twould be a miracle.
It's front-wheel drive.

But in a royal park I don't think you'd get points on your licence -
it's an offence to break teh speed limit, but it doesn't seem to fall
under the Road Traffic Offenders Act (whcih is where the stuff which
gives you points is located).
There's very little you can do on a bike that will get you points on
your licence.

I was merely correcting the assertion that the offence of speeding can only
be committed by drivers of motor vehicle drivers.

You probably could if you got caught using it with one of those Chinese
cyclemotor thingies (as sold on eBay) attached, but then I suppose it
would be a motor bicycle so not really relevant.

I wonder if the actual offence in that case is speeding, or something to
do with acting contrary to a byelaw?

I think that it being contrary to a by-law is more likely to be the

I unintentionally managed one for about half a second on Saturday. I very
quickly shoved my weight back to get the rear wheel on the ground!

I don't know, but there are multiple offences for which it could
theoretically happen - going equipped to steal a motor vehicle gets
you points on your driving licence, for example, and you could be so
equipped while cycling.

Blimey, anyone with an old Ford is equipped to steal thousands of other old
Fords just by having the keys in their pocket.
Aboit thirty years ago, I accidentally locked myself out of my Fiesta at a
motorway service area. I asked the very next Ford driver to enter the
car-park if I could try his key in my car - and it opened it first go.

When my chum Penfold got married, the need arose to decorate his car,
an old Fiesta, inside and out. I opened it with the ignition key to my
Mini.

I used to have an old Escort that would open and start with a
screwdriver in any of the locks. Failing the screwdriver, I could get
in just by putting my palms on the window and pulling it down to open it.
