Specialized Crossroads frame for sale
(Yes, I'm coming in through motzarella. I don't have access to
news.demon any more. Could be worse, I could be using Google.)

My stolen first bicycle (Specialized Crossroads 2006 HU8) was found by
the police a year later and returned to me. Mostly; the back wheel (with
Nexus 8 hub), back brakes (and lever), and the entire shifter assembly
are all gone. There's an undersized (26") back wheel and old 7-speed
cassette bodged in place instead; I hate to think what it would have
been like to ride.

Since I replaced the bike on my insurance, even if I got it built back
up to the original spec (at some expense) I'd essentially have something
that duplicates the role of a bike I already have. And I don't really
have the space to keep it kicking around unrideable.

Would anyone here potentially be interested in buying it as a
restoration project? It was a lovely basic commuting bike once, and I'd
like to see it go to someone who'll use it.

I'm based near High Wycombe. More details on request, preferably by
email.

Roger

... the stolen one is now probably the property of your insurers. Not
that I suppose they actually want it.

No, I checked. They don't. It's legally mine, and in case you (the
potential purchaser, rather than necessarily Paul) think I might be
dodgy I can probably dig out the original receipt. I certainly still
have the insurance claim paperwork...
