Width restrictions & caravans--- oops
Hi just got a fine today for going through the width.restrictions(the
bit for buses)so much easier than the bit for cars and supposedly
everything else!!! Im going to appeal!!! anyone else experienced this
?
I have seen many lorries and large vans go through the bus bit and
wonder if anyone towing a van also uses the wider bit of width
restrictions
Look forward to any replies and thanks ahead

If it was a 6' width restriction and you went through it with a 7' caravan
and got caught, on what basis are you going to appeal?
You can't appeal on the basis that everybody else breaks the law so you can
as well.

Depends what width is restricted. If it's, say, 6' 6"max width then
you're probably caught bang to rights and would have little chance of
winning whatever appeal you think you've got.
What others do unlawfully doesn't mean anyone else can also do it, you
were perhaps unlucky to get caught..

That reminds me. We have only recently got the camper so most of the
time tend not to notice the width restrictions (it's 7ft). Got caught
out on the M1 through the road works, it wasn't until after we'd gone
in to the right lane I realised WE were wider than the 6.6 restriction
but luckily no one noticed. The main problem I have noticed is
visiting CLs etc, many of the smaller country lanes have 6.6 width
limits when we're using the GPS, and by definition many are down
little lanes anyway. I know it's OK for access only but presumably
only access in that road, and not hte other 20 lanes you're need to go
through to get to your destinations.
Been much of a problem for anyone?
