Spanish Highway code
Hi All,

Could anyone tell me where I could get a Spanish highway code written in
English please. I had a little bump there a short while ago, and there was a
dispute over the blame, but I have been told that I was at fault, because it
is illegal to reverse a car (which was what I was doing) in Spain except in
very exception circumstances.
Has anyone else heard of this?

Thanks in advance

Lofty

Thanks for that, lots of interesting stuff, but I would like to know more
about the road signs also.
I found to my cost reversing is illegal, didn't know 3point turns are also.

I go to Spain regularly to see my parents who live on the Costa Del Sol,
I've never heard such nonsense - illegal to reverse!! 3 point turns!! I've
done em all. How do you think you get out a parking space then? If that was
the case surely car manufacturers would remove the reverse gear from there
cars driven in Spain?

You check it out m8, my insurance had to accept liability because I was
involved in a bump, (on the Costa del Sol) because I was reversing and a
twat came out of a side street looking the opposite way and we bumped, but
in Spanish law it is illegal to reverse in towns, except in exceptional
circumstances, and I've just discovered 3 point turns are illegal also.
It is also illegal to overtake on the motorway without indicating, and going
through a tunnel, however short, without putting on your lights.
Take care m8, in Spain, I go regularly but I learn new things all the
time.My friend got done 50euro's for turning left out of a road, something
the Spanish do all the time on this particular road, but my friend got done
as it was illegal.

Also note that it is now illegal to drive anything in France without an
approved flourescent jacket being in the car and the police say they will
enforce it strictly after a shore period of grace during which warnings will
be given..

It's the same in Portugal - and if you break down you have to put the
jacket on before getting out of the car.

It's new in France for private cars as I understand it although it was a
week or so since I read it so the memory is hazy on details.
