Low Emission Zone
Just heard an advert on the radio from tfl about the Low Emission Zone. Said
something about it affecting vehicles over 3.5 tons. Didn't catch the dates,
but the point is, they are still pushing the LEZ and in that advert they
mentioned, and I quote "Motorised Caravans". So looks like its all still
going ahead and no relenting on an exemption for motorhomes. I'm ok until
Oct 2010. After that its £200 a day to go inside the M25. I had hoped BoJo
would get the message about an exemtion for very low mileage motorhomes.
Still time, but not got high hopes.

twats like you with no sense of humour.
I hope you drive a high CO vehicle and will be priced off the road.

Thank you for that Wally. Maybe it is an excess of gas that is putting him
in a bad mood

No problem Gwen, people like that just get up my nose, if it wasn't

I'm sure I remember an article in the paper the other day that says
that Boris has dropped the new charges. Something to do with Porsche
lodging a claim for discrimination with the EU Parliament.

That was in respect of the £25 kengestion charge for "gas guzzlers" and
nothing to do with the LEZ. It was also something that Boris promised to do
in his manifesto and, in addition, he promised (and is in the throes of
arranging) consultation on the western extension to the kengestion charging
area. If the public says they don't want it, he's pledged to scrap that.
However, returning to the LEZ: IMO, the LEZ makes no sense. I have two
vehicles, a 1995 Mitsubishi diesel 4x4 and a 2001 Citroen Dispatch HDi. The
4x4 has much higher emissions than the van yet from 4 Oct 2010 the van does
not comply while the 4x4 is fine!
A further anomaly (AIUI) is that only diesel-engined vehicles are affected.
This means a 30 feet plus American motorhome with a stonking 6-litre V10
petrol engine returning 8 mpg isn't affected whereas my 2-litre van, which
returns about 40 mpg, is.
Additionally, there is no exemption for voluntary services. This means that
several Scout troops will lose their minibuses and St John's Ambulance
can't cover important events withing the LEZ.

and yet another miserable sod, do try getting a life.
Smiling = A facial expression characterized by turning up the corners
of the mouth; usually shows pleasure or amusement.
Once you have mastered it I guarantee you will feel better.

A life like yours? you sad old git? No thanks. Ill remain as I am.
Shame the quality of this group has now descended into a cardigan and
slippers place. It used to be full of people who were Motorcaravan
fanatics.
Now its full, just like most campsites, of sad old shellsuit wearing
muppets who spend thousands on vans they know nothing about.
MIgrants from caravanning, those sad bastards that wake you up every
morning washing their cars and rigs at 6.0AM, or those taking their
King Charles Spaniels for walkies.
I think Ill move to the self build forum. People are real there

I wonder whether you realise that this is cross-posted to
uk.rec.motorcaravans and uk.rec.caravanning. Since urc is the more active,
it's hardly surprising that mainly caravanners have posted.
That said, there is a delicious irony to Wally beefing about people with no
sense of humour!
