Which of the two clubs can be recommended
I'm in the camping and caravanning club and my brother in law who has just
got a new van is asking why am I in this club as opposed to the caravan club
which his father in law is in. I haven't got a reason could anyone here
advise which may be best for what. he's going to be touring where I'm mainly
static on seasonal.

Standard reply is to try both to see which he likes. The CC has just
over 200 main sites of it's own and a network of nearly 3000 CL's (5
van sites members only ). The CCC has 100 main sites of it's own and a
network of about 1000 CS's ( like the CC CL ).
I joined the CC in 1992 and have never regretted it, the toilet blocks
on their sites set the standard that others need to achieve, the sites
are sell laid out and user friendly when towing, there is a good
spread of them in all parts of the country. I like the CC's no hassle
attitude to leaving early and refunding fees and their no deposit
policy it makes for a very free and easy caravan holiday.

I joined the CCC in 2003 and again in 2006, I resigned on both
occasions as I did not find that they suited me. I have never found a
CCC toilet block that was not up to scratch but I have been on CCC
sites where towing a caravan needed great care. I resigned because I
found that the wardens ( sorry Holiday site managers ) were too
pedantic and generally not as available, I was not given the the
choice of where to pitch on any site I was placed to the nearest inch
in the place the warden wanted me to go ( to the point of one wardene
moving the front of my hitch 3inches to the right because it was not
right. I know that others have had better experience of the CCC so I
would urge everyone to try and see.

Re: Which of the two clubs can be recommended
Thanks' for that Bill I have emailed him your reply :-) I have taken on
board your experinace as well, my renewal is up in august so will look to
have a change, only right to have a look at both. I did go on a CCC site
early in the year and it was very cramped but I haven't yet the experiance
of many sites and thought this was the norm. I allso went to a site in York
that was very good and it had a seperate area for five CC vans that was very
well set up with a farm shop on site as well.

Well I'm in the CC and it meets my needs, I use the CLs.
Never been in CCC but those in it speak just as highly as those in the CC.
So I guess nothing between them in general.
I guess the only real difference will be the CCC includes tenters. So as
you allready in the CCC you will know if that effects and in what way.
If you need to be on same site as family then of course you need to have
same club.

Re: Which of the two clubs can be recommended
We joined the caravan club several years ago on advice of friends who have
camped for years and feel you can have peace of mind when you book one of
their sites we have found them to be of a very high standard.
We also have the Caravan Club insurance and after a very bad episode of ill
health and accidents, and being burgled, our caravan got damaged, we were
not able to make a claim for 2 years but once we made our claim it was
settled almost instantly. We wanted to keep our caravan and they let us
find our own spares and then liaised with the repairer direct to carry out
the work.
Many insurance companies would have told us we were too late or would have
written the van off.
