Rather depends on what you've found already .... I presume that you've
done the obvious and gone here:
http://www.calorlite.co.uk/ (linked from the calor.co.uk site)

You will need to watch the price the dealers that have it charge.

Thanks to all, it was my spelling of the light/lite which let me down
in the Internet search.

Anyone tried these yet? They sound good and around half the weight. I
was quite surprised the alloy cylinders were taken off the market 20
odd years ago. Are they a straight free of cost swap for a blue calor
cylinder? Is the 6Kg gas cost the same as other 6Kg cylinders or do
they charge a premium?

One local dealer ( Yorkshire ) tried to put £6.00 a bottle on

He lost the sale of 2 aquarolls a 110 amp battery and a service (check) for my new
to me twin axle

He had a grumpy face on when I walked out through the door empty handed

See my post on rip off by dealers on 6kg Propane.

Calor recomended price for normal Cylinder £16-10
Lite £18-52

Normal cylinder at dealers range £17 to £18-50
Did not ask about Lite at dealers but can remember seeing over £20 for it on
the lists.

Online delivery on Calor site is Extra £4-50

I ordered from Flogas web site a normal cylinder £13-64 inc del'y.
Do not know if Flogas do a light one, nor do I know BP prices.

Calor are not worried their agents charge more.

Must you have Calor and Lite?

I have tried to fit one of the new last year plastic (Shell?) bottles
in and the door is just a fraction too narrow to get them in. I don't
desperately need to swap to lite, but if the cost difference is not
much and they have the advantage of all year round propane.

Well I think cost important and it will be a lot more.
I'm sticking with Flogas for now. Connection is same standard propane one.

Bought one yesterday from one of Calor's own shops and charged £18.56. I
was advised by them that it is now only a few pence more than the normal
cylinder although I notice Calor's website still has that at £16.10. A
straight swop for the normal propane cylinder.
My experience is that Calor's own shops are much more relaxed about
swopping different types of cylinder. Again their web site suggests you
can swop any cylinder for any other size/type.

Very pleased with cylinder. Certainly much lighter and it has the gauge
which shows how much gas is left. Time will tell how accurate it is. One
bonus is that it appears to have an enamelled type of finish which
should mean no more flakes of red paint left behind in the gas locker.

Just got back off a five week trip

Two of the larger Caravan Club sites were changing the Calor Lite bottles at no
additional cost

I didn't need any at the time and still dont ,

It COULD BE beneficial to lighten the load ,

But I find any van I have gets a bit twitchy if the hitch weight is wrong

Any way I dont go away to wash , iron , fetch and empty , neither does the Dragon

Two nice 12 oz steaks on Poole Harbour Front with a bottle of half decent wine
£14.99 the lot

A jar or two of Tangle Foot at the Silent Woman , ( Reminds me where's Mary )

Sorry Mary couldn't resist

Xchange is free - but the catch is in the refill charge, a "supplement"
of £2.00, and see other thread on what the dealers are actually
charging.

I've found the gauge to be somewhat erratic on the one I've used so far.
On the BP version you can see the liquid level AIUI.

Hugh

I bought one before going to France to keep the weight down. I was charged
an extra £2.00 above the normal exchange rate. I understand that this will
apply each time you exchange for a lite cylinder.

But there was no gauge on mine!
