When on the road, the caravan is covered by the cars third party insurance
(provided you bothered to inform your insurer that you would be towing).

However, if your caravan does hit something, then the owner will have to
pay for the damage to the caravan.

insurance, damage to the caravan was paid by the caravan insurance).
