Fridge not working on gas.
It's a RM212 that works very well on 240v.
The pilot will light without any problems, the fridge is level, but
the size of the lame does not change when you rotate the control knob.
Are there any instructions available as to how to clean the burner and
flue system or can anyone guide me through what I need to do?
Thanks
Steve

Don't know if the same will apply to you but a couple of years
ago my fridge stopped working and I could find nothing wrong.
Somebody told me to remove the fridge from van, turn it upside
down and leave for 24 hours then turn it back, refit it and wait
a further 24 hrs.
I was a bit sceptical but thought, what have I got to lose so I
gave it a go.
The fridge worked fine and is still doing so, something to do with
the fluids in the pipes I'm told.
It may not be the same problem with yours but like me, what have
you got to lose ?? (apart from two days)

Surely it's not likely to be that if it works ok on mains? There's only one
lot of fluid, but several methods of injecting heat at the appropriate point
in the circuit. If one heating method works, the fluid circulation must be
ok.
To the OP. Do you *know* that it doesn't cool on gas? You say that the flame
size doesn't change with knob setting, but I'm not sure whether it's
supposed to. I've never explicitly noticed mine doing so.

When tried on the drive at home I've left it on gas for a day with no
noticable variation in temperature, switched to 240v and left for a
day and there was ice on the ice tray. Switched back to gas and the
ice melted.
I was told that I probably needed to clean the flue/burner etc on the
gas circuit...

Roger Mills presented the following explanation :

They are supposed to. As you turn the temperature setting to a colder
setting, assuming the fridge was at the correct temperature, the flame
height should rise until the new temperature is achieved.
The business of taking the fridge out, turning it upside down etc.. was
supposed to dissolve crystals which appear in the cooling circuit. As
someone else pointed out - if it works on mains and works on 12v, this
is not the problem.
If the gas flame is not going into large flame mode, then I would
suspect the gas valve/thermostatic control as being faulty, or perhaps
a blocked jet, poor gas pressure to the fridge. If the flame is going
high level, I wonder if the chimney might be sooted up?

Sounds likely...
Can you check the flame and make sure it is all blue, with occasional
yellow flecks rising in the flame?
Jets are not easy to clean, they are very fine - probably easier to
simply buy a new one. The burner chimney should have a twisted flat
strip inside it, intended to cause the heat from the flame to swirl
around as it rises - it hangs down the tube from a wire. This might be
missing, or the tube choked up with carbon deposits.

I think we're agreed that the problem's with the burner. You're correct
in thinking that the flame size should vary (or at least that's the case
with the RM122).
