Overnight at service stations, etc.
On the way to France I used to arrive at the Folkstone racecourse CC site
early morning, using their off-site overflow field, to have a few hours
sleep after an overnight run down from the north west and before an
afternoon sailing. The warden used to say 'put something in the charity box'
due to the short stay, or they would charge a reduced fee.

Now the site has closed, I need somewhere else for a rest on the way down. I
recently found a list of motorway service areas that allow overnight parking
for caravans. I can't find it now. I think it was a .pdf file. It listed the
motorways and the charges, etc.

Does anyone have a reference to this list or any suggestions for other
places from the London area down. Preferably after the M25. I can't use
normal CC or C&CC sites because of the time I would be arriving. I would not
be appreciated arriving at 6.00am!

There's a couple of CL type sites at Capel-le-Ferne. We stayed at one
listed in the CC book run by someone called Atkins (there is an e-mail
address) two weeks ago and it suited.

It's a quiet, uncut field with power outlets for about seven outfits,
and there is some hard standing. Water is available, and there's an
honestly box but you do need to book. Cost is £3 without power, £4.50
with (16A) power.

Thanks Woody, looks hopeful. I still haven't found the motorway parking list
file though, hence the new post.

I should have added that there is a new motorway stop on the M20 at J11
for people who arrive early for their ferry, BUT

The car park has height barriers

There is a bus park but it is specifically for buses and they have to
park nose up to a kerb (i.e. no drive-through capability)

There is a seperate lorry park but parking is much on the style of the
bus park

There is NO parking provided for caravans or motorhomes

Your stop is limited to two hours.

WHAT USE IS THAT?????

Yes that's what I have found on M1 as I stated in another post.

Can't understand the Government Dept. responsible allowing this.
