The tread is on the top, the bottom is open with plastic braces. Put weight 
on them and they sink nicely through the soft earth and take out a very nice 
pattern. After 24 hours you will be 3" lower than when you started. Turn em 
upside down and they don't sink in.

So by that explanation nothing you use as a leveller will do anything
other than sink down. In which case you need to find another spot.

Ive used my ;'Yellow Peril' Levellers for over 15 years and never had
them sink down.

Obvious really from the original statement. Duh sorry! ;-)

I was going to get the larger Fiamma ramps "Level Up Plus "  £20

But I could see problems get up and down the graduations accurately.
The underside as you suggest, apart from the sinking possibility also
looked a bit flimsy (the open ribbing) so I opted for the stronger
solid, but smaller " Fiamma Level System" £15 although I am concerned
if these will give me enough height at times?
