show it is on when connected to the car power, but i cannot seem to

I have fitted my LED just behind the external grill so that I do not
have to go into the van to check all is ok. Might this be better and
easier to fit?

If you really want to remove the fridge its held in with four screws two
either side of the cabinet. You'll see the screw covers when you open the
door. Then fit a pair of removal tools , and lift the fridge forward.

I bought a 12v LED and connected it across the 2 wires that go to the
12v heater element. Check for the correct polarity, it will not work if
it's the wrong way round. On my caravan these wires are easily
accessible just behind the grill. This way you get confirmation that the
fridge is switched to 12v as well.
