An employment law query
Employee works with food in a cafe, small number of employees overall. She
becomes pregnant and almost immediately goes sick claiming she feels sick
all the time and can't be around food because it makes her feel worse. Now
been off for 3-4 weeks, with a doctor's certificate and there appears to be
no prospect of her returning to work in the forseable future.
Has she effectively made herself unemployable, given that she is employed
to work with food in a cafe? Conversely, what protection does she have
given the circumstances?
Doesn't affect me personally, but it's a situation I know of third hand.
