Issues with this list
Hello
I have tried to post twice to UK Legal Moderated regarding an
important issue affecting UK residents.
My posts have not shown up on group and I have not been informed that
my post has been rejected?
What do I do, who are the moderators and how to I make representations
to them or do I go to Google first?
Thanks
Mike

It's not necessarily a problem with the group. I've found the only
reliable way for my posts to reach moderation is to post them through
my gmail account. Both Freeserve and Virgin news servers fail about
50% of the time.
Of course, once they are in the moderation queue, they may still fail
if the content is not appropriate... :)

Hi Mike -
It's not uncommon for posts to fail to reach the moderation system, due to
poorly configured servers at your ISP. We've also had a recent crash with
the moderation server, which probably took out a few posts.
Start by checking to see if your posts are listed at
http://www.moderation.org.uk/3display_history.php .
- If they're not there, they didn't arrive. You'll need to talk to your
ISP/mail service about that, or open a news-individual.net a/c if you want a
quick, simple solution.
- If they are there but were rejected, then identify which specific ones
they were and we'll try to find out why.
(FYI, Google has nothing to do with the administration of this group. It's
an autonomous collective, managed by a small group of moderators acting
under a charter of approval voted upon by interested usenet users)
Good luck with the problem-solving, we always welcome new posters here.

I'm not a moderator, but I'd hazard a guess that your post yesterday was
a casualty of the technical failure announced in the post "News
Failure" by Anthony R. Gold. There's more discussion in
uk.net.news.moderation.
Your post this morning has appeared, but the posting history at
http://www.moderation.org.uk/ shows that it took over 13 hours before a
moderator was available to deal with it. If you study the posting
history you'll see that such a delay is not untypical. The moderators
are unpaid volunteers and unfortunately they are not always around.

Congratulations on being successful this time.
Have a look on www.moderation.org.uk for your other posts. Occasionally,
they just disappear - possibly a sacrifice to the Ethernet God.

I regularly look at the Posting History and the Moderator Rejected
Posts. It's interesting to see who are the stern moderators and the
naughty boy posters!

Hardly anything gets rejected, really.
There are currently a number of rejected posts on the pile that shouldn't
really be there - spam with adverts for sexual services should really be
rejected as "spam" (whereby they vaporise and don't appear on the pile)
rather than as "advertising in furtherance of a commercial enterprise" which
is geared more towards advertising of a different nature.
